If you have mat, weak nails with unattractive shape – take a closer look to your diet. You may need vitamin A, B-group vitamins and microelements.

However, you may also make some nail care mistakes:

FILING. Use a glass or ceramic file. Metal files cause splintering and chipping of the nail edges.  Use the file only on dry nails. To finish, smooth the nail tip in one direction only, as this prevents splintering.

POLISHING. Avoid frequent polishing of the nail surface because it makes it thin and weak. Renewal of the weakened nail plate takes 5-6 weeks.

CONDITIONERS. Conditioners should be used 5-6 weeks that is the time it takes to rebuild the nail plate. Apply one or two coats of the product on clean and uncoated nails, every 2-3 days. You may use nail oil with jojoba, keratin and vitamins on dry plates and cuticles, or apply a cream with elastin or liquid keratin.

MODELLING. To prevent ingrown nails, always trim them straight, and do not round them with a file. Dermatologists claim that cuticles should not be cut off. It is better to soften them with special products and remove with a spatula.

PROPER DIET. Weak nails are often an evidence of lacking microelements (iron, silicon, zinc, selenium, calcium) and vitamins (A, E, B-group). If at the same time you have problems with your hair or skin, you may be sure that you do not eat healthy.
